Sometimes when you are walking through the woods, not traveling a particular route, not minding too much about where you end up, you
can happen upon something wonderful; a chance meeting.
Today in the woods I walked along the edge of a lake, the
lake was partially frozen and dotted with little birds. I walked over a few
large mounds that led me up and down, each time showing me something new.
As I walked around the natural bend of the lake, emerging
from behind some evergreen cover was the most beautiful yet sad little tree,
battered and beaten from life and time but still so beautiful and strangely
happy in its sadness. I stopped and looked. I shared my time with it for a
little while, with each glance I saw something else that I loved about it. Its
many layers, its textures and shapes.
It’s nice how an accidental path can lead you to something
unexpected. This tree might be fairly unremarkable to someone else, kind of scruffy and not like the others. But to me it was just perfect!
