Saturday night drawing club

Squirrel drawings, using a 0.2 fineliner pen and a brush pen, which is fast becoming my new favourite pen, its great a drawing squirrel tail anyway and that is important for a pen. These are drawn from photographs I took a few weeks ago when my house was covered in scaffolding, I set up an enormous pile of peanuts and sunflower seeds and waited all of about 53 seconds and the place was covered in them, they took turns I think, or maybe it was the same fat squirrel just wearing little squirrel disguises each time... I must say my garden squirrels I used for my animation last year are the fattest squirrels I have ever seen.

Eating....

Looking...

And this is the font I was working on inspired by the squirrels tail...

Trunk font finished

Here is the finished alphabet and two close ups of letters P and A, I've chosen some nice earthy tones for this one. My hand hurts now so I shall go and rest it up for another day of wacky adventure drawing tomorrow.

Tree trunk font

A new font I am working on. I promised myself I'd try to create one illustrative font every month.

Large tree trunk drawing

This is the largest paper drawing I have done to date. Its not finished yet, I plan on it being part of a forest of trees, but this will be the closest tree in the picture.

This is the picture in the process of being drawn, I might make a moving image of the picture being slowly built up.

Bermondsey Square painting for 4wall

Today I have been down at the Bermondsey Square hoarding doing a little painting for 4wall. It was really great fun and I met some amazing people today. It was also the first time I have ever done a large scale wall painting, infact a wall painting of any size. I was quite scared but it all went really well. I think I will be doing some more of these little bad boys

A close up of the final image...

Work in progress...

More work in progress... the squirrel starts to take shape.

In honour of Red Nose Day 4wall organised a painting day to raise money for charity and at the end of the day me and two other artists had to judge the entries... We also got filmed talking about why we chose our winner for a film that will be made showing the work happening on the hoarding... which was embarrassing.

My favourite paintings

These were my favourites of the paintings on the hoarding, the lion was not done today but its amazing and the frog, which was done today by a man that worked on the site, is just genius! You have to wonder where that image would have come from... A frog in a pink dress wearing a black tie clasping his hands and smiling like a con man.

Miniature lanscapes

These are some more photographs of my miniature landscapes project I have just started. I'm not sure quite where it is gonna take me at the moment but its a side step in my research from all my bark drawings. These remind me of photographs of Scottish or Welsh countryside.

Alien landscapes

I have recently started looking into creating a series of images based on macro photographs of textures of nature. These one are of a log in Alley Pally and really do look alien to me, like an arid desert landscape.
